Guys ...I'm rusty.....do you all know how long it has been since I baked a wedding cake? I'm bound & determined I'm making that bacardi rum cake with my truffle filling. Jeez I gotta get my stand & stuff out. This cake is going along with my haunt. The deranged bride will be attending the funeral in her wedding dress along with her bridesmaids in theirs. She decides for the patrons who are paying their condolences she is handing out slices of the cake that was to be used for the reception....not sure yet whether its gonna be white or a gothic purple & black.

As I mentioned in the halloween forum...people come to my house on halloween are looking to eat. They were so disappointed I did not bake for the 2007 season. I once made a 4ft.x 4ft. halloween cake, a big orange pumpkin, (I bought a scanner finally so as soon as Joe gets it hooked up I'll scan my old pictures & add them to the web site)...might do that for the kids.

Once I made one of those 4x4 cakes for the Miss Nebraska Pageant luncheon.....we were getting ready to transport it & then it dawned on us......could not get thru the door w/ it....they had to take the window out in the diner to get it thru there!!lol

Muff, OMG 4 x 4..I never made a cake that big in my life! The closest thing I ever did that was that big was a gingerbread house, Victorian deal with turrets, and lots of lace. I would LOVE to see pictures of the cake you made, get them on your site..I'm dying to see!

I would love to see that gingerbread house too! I have never tried to make one of those but I would love it I'm sure!! I love those gingerbread competitions they have on the food network at xmas time!

The big pumpkin I made was made up of 13x9 cakes all different flavors. I put them on a large card table and then cut the pumpkin shape out and then frosted. Really nothing fancy but we had it for a cake & coffee night at the diner. I have 3 or 4 wedding cakes i made & the miss nebraska pageant cakes, there were 2. My favorite was the huge flag cake I made for the 4th of July celebration at the diner.....it was neat! I am so happy I don't make cakes like that anymore...lol...lots of ....patience!!

Muffy, don't you have any pictures? I want to see the cakes! Or are you like me and forget to take pics? Do you ever watch the Ace of Cakes on Food Network? Those guys make some awesome cakes (heck they did a Borg cake, totally incredible!)

I wish I had pictures of the big gingerbread house but we never took any. Dumb, I guess but it was made years before I had a digital camera (I don't think there were digital cameras then! LOL) I made it for my niece when she was little, so that would be about 19 years ago. The darn thing took up our entire dining room table for weeks! I make gingerbread houses every so often. Have done them for Halloween too, bats in the belfry, ghosts in the windows, Licorice whips for bare trees. I hadn't planned on doing any this year, but now I'm inspired! If I do, I'll take some pictures for sure.
