I hope this is the right forum to post this in? If not, I'm sure it can be moved.
As most of you know, I'm really into restoring old blow molds, its what I do and I love doing it. I started repairing/repainting molds in the 1970s, used enamel paint and a brush..which looked great during the day but when lit, streaky. Over the years I refined my techniques, learned a lot from others who were also into it.
This guy is my latest restoration. He may not be a homemade prop, but he is a creation.
The first two pictures are the "before" pictures..this is how he looked when I got him. This Santa was made by Poloron in the early 70s I believe. He was covered in 3 coats of paint (4 if you include the original paint job), including enamel, as well as exterior latex paint. It took almost 1/2 a gallon of stripper to get him cleaned up so he could be repainted.

These next pictures are the "after" pictures..Santa is finished. I did the paint job with a combination of paints. I used Krylon for Plastic paint as well as an airbrush with Createx transparent airbrush paint.

And here he is "lit" which makes all the difference. The point with blow molds is that they must look good during the day and at night when lit. To me, if you're going to decorate for Christmas, things should look nice no matter when they are seen, no?

Wow! Totally awesome job, Carrie.
Your colors are much more vibrant than the old one. Much more cheery!
Only wish I have is that the pictures were bigger.
I also love the blush in the cheeks and nose!

Totally cool results Carrie! I'm guessing the paint job that you removed was someone's idea of Santa with a bag of coal? LOL Man your paint job looks cool.

Two points for you my friend. The video is a few years old. But I had fun filming it. Maybe Carrie will have another mini and ask me to film again. it was fun, and I was so busy.
