Well folks, I don't know if Larry will let this thread stand or not, but I think it may be a fun one to be part of.

Most of us browse E-bay and run across some Christmas items that strike out fancy, so why not post them here? This could be for items we like, or items that we think are ugly, or ripping people off, or a good price, etc.

Here's something I saw today.

I've seen the swirlie and the scoop ice cream blow molds, but this is a new take I like. I think it would look really neat for the gingerbread house theme.

I like the idea of an Ebay thread, I would have never found that popscicle thingy, very nice, I'm going to watch it and see where it goes. Its very different in a fun kind of way.

I have a deep respect for Larry, and if he disapproves of the Ebay links he'll stop this thread I'm sure. For now though, it's a bit of fun. heh

Definitely some neat stuff. If anyone else wants to post links, feel free. :)

Its nice to be able to share things for sale, however if he wishes to not have this thread go I too would respect it.

Oh yes, lots of neat stuff, often I just look at things that are off the wall strange. LOL

It is nice to share links to good sales etc. We do it on the other sites I'm on and because of it, more people seem to be able to find what they are looking for. I will wait to post any sale links until Larry makes a decision (being a newbie and all, wouldn't want to rock the boat! LOL)

Sickie Ickie
06-14-2008, 07:54 PM
understandable. I'll shoot Larry a PM, and see what he decides.

Sure. I do not see any problem with it. If we need to address something, then we will if it becomes an issue.

Thanks much! Have fun!

Love the santa faces!
When I was a kid, we had a santa, hung on the house, was plastic, with a card board(heavy) back, light in it, I loved that thing, used it when i first got married, but the plastic broke, If any one see anything like it, please post it, I'd at least like to see if it is the same, and if not too much, maybe buy it.Thanks

Incase someone was interested in these blow molds. Seem pretty cheap for 2 14.99

http://cgi.ebay.com/Christmas-Outdoor-Nativity-Mary-Joseph-Jesus-Blowmolds_W0QQitemZ300234540859QQihZ020QQcategoryZ 1090QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem 4 days left.

Carrie
06-18-2008, 06:38 AM
Elvira, I love that set, it was made by TPI and is the one I use in my display. It also had quite a few accompanying pieces, 3 beautiful wisemen, a drummer boy, a shepherd, an ox, donkey, and camel. For $14.99 starting bid, that's a great deal. If anyone is looking for a super quality nativity, this TPI set is great.

Sickie Ickie
06-18-2008, 09:19 AM
LOL Don't let that starting bid get ya excited though. with four days left, it's bound to raise in price.

Elvira
06-18-2008, 03:50 PM
Will be interesting to see how high it will go. If it doesn't, it sounds like according to Carrie, a very good deal. Bust open the piggys ppl!

Carrie
06-18-2008, 07:04 PM
Sickie's right, the set will go higher and with shipping what it is today. Oy Vay!

Sickie Ickie
06-18-2008, 08:31 PM
To keep the price as low as possible, many people don't even bid until the last 5 min.

Carrie
06-19-2008, 01:22 PM
Sickie, I usually have two browsers open when I'm ready to bid at the last second (and I mean final seconds). One is open loaded with my bid, the other I keep hitting the refresh button so I can watch the countdown..that way you can bid in the last few seconds of an auction. It works fairly well, beats paying a sniping service anyway.

Elvira
06-19-2008, 03:20 PM
Lots of ppl do it that way, for me I prefer a sniper, as I am not always home to hit refresh and bid, so I set my snipe and I don't have to be home at that particular time. Secondly, for the .25 that it costs me to have a sniper do it, I am assured my bid gets in at the lead time indicated. I lost alot of auctions trying to bid in the dying seconds. My fingers are not as fast as a timer LOL I use sniper for things that I really must have (which is most everything LOL) and I might have paid .25 for the snipe, but it saves me money at the end when the auction is over. If there is time for someone to place a bid in between my bid, then I ended up paying more for that item, with sniping, there is never time to place a bid. For myself, sniping is the only way :D

Sickie Ickie
06-19-2008, 06:49 PM
So there y'ar. LOL Things can get more expensive. :)

This auc states this blowmold has paper eyes? Is this true or did someone just paste them on?

Carrie
07-03-2008, 07:53 AM
Its very true, several manufacturers used paper eyes frequently. The age the seller posts is incorrect though, blow molds were not made in the 1950's, vacucels were being made in the 50s, the precursors to blow molds. Actual blow molds started being produced in 1960s.

Here's some interesting blow molds:

A blue coated Santa: http://cgi.ebay.com/TPI-SANTA-SEAL-BLOWMOLD-CHRISTMAS-YARD-LAWN-BLOW-MOLD_W0QQitemZ120282963559QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item 120282963559

http://i11.ebayimg.com/01/i/000/fb/8b/9ba3_1.JPG

And if anyone is in the Central Massachusetts area, this is for pick-up only and has a good price- about $30 right now:

A whole different spin on santa, the blue actually looks kinda nice, makes him look icey cold. I really like him!

07-17-2008, 12:59 PM
Yeah, I like the santa, and his bear friends too...but I don't really get the ball?
A gift I guess, but doesn't mesh imho.

Sickie Ickie
07-17-2008, 07:23 PM
Supposedly his friends are a polar bear and a seal, thus the ball. It still looks like a basket ball to me, though. heh

Carrie
07-17-2008, 08:01 PM
That blue color is really more of a grey when you see it in person, Elvira. I had one of those Santas in that paint scheme (it was made by TPI), but I sold it (and I'm kicking myself for selling it).

Elvira
07-19-2008, 07:08 AM
Did these come in different paint schemes Carrie? I can't believe you sold him, hes so different, I love him! I would like to find one, he looks so cold in that color, very wintery

Carrie
07-19-2008, 07:21 AM
Elvira, that Santa also came in the traditional red Santa suit, which I kept. I'm having issues with my computer right now, but I'll post a picture of him once I get things fixed around here (sigh..no modem for 4 days, now this! LOL)

Elvira, here is the one I was going to post before my computer decided to go nuts. Its a close up shot of a the red suit Santa and two others, also made by TPI.

Boy Carrie, Those elves sure look realistic while the Santa looks cartoonish. Kinda an odd combination.

Yep, I tend to agree with you SI..never thought about it before!

Sickie Ickie
07-23-2008, 04:09 PM
Are there any ultra-realistic human blowmolds?

Carrie
07-23-2008, 08:16 PM
SI, I think ultra-realistic is typified by some of TPI's nativity pieces. The Holy family is not cartoony at all, but their shepherd and drummer boy are really quite sculptural. Here is a closeup of Joseph and a tiny one of the entire set. There are other manufacturers that also did some very realistic looking blow molds, but I tend to favor TPI (they and Poloron were my favorites).

Sickie Ickie
07-24-2008, 12:27 PM
Not bad. I swear when I first saw the pic of Joseph, I thought of Luke Skywalker or Obi Wan! LOL

We are now registered on e-bay for charity and have put my bike for sale on there with all of the proceeds to go to PPSN.

The seller can choose what percentage of the proceeds are to go to charity.

If anyone is getting rid of unwanted items, this is a good way to do it and would be greatly appreciated. I get an e-mail to say that an item has been placed on e-bay to raise funds for us.
