With the right chemicals I can even make one disappear! LOL Well except for the wire branches and metal pole. Clear...? You know in all honesty, I bet that would look really cool. Like ice. Wonder if there is a plastic that wont yellow over time and stay crystal clear?
Dude that 'My Little Pony' tree is scary. That's a Halloween prop! LOL
Elvira
07-20-2008, 07:53 AM
LOL @ with the right chemicals I can make one disappear....OH I bet you can! That was too funny! I doubt there is anything that wont turn yellow over time. When the white trees first came out my cousin bought a couple of them, now, you have to know this woman... she paints her house every 2 months (the whole house thats 2000 sq ft) no one smokes in her house, and if she needs to cook something that will cause a greasey smell... she will do it outside on the grill. Shes maticulous in everything she does. Anyway, you could eat off her floors. Her white trees, over a course of a couple years turned from white to yellow. The only thing I can think of that caused it to happen was natural gas , the woman is insanely clean, no dust, no odors of any sort, I can't even imagine whatelse could change the color, the air itself?

I can't seem to get over that My little Pony Tree. I had never saw one of these until it was posted here. My granddaughter just loves My Little Pony stuff. I must not tell her about this post or she will go bananas on grandpa. Hehehehe!!:)

07-20-2008, 10:49 AM
Elvira, all plastic will discolor over time. It's caused by the braking down of the plastic itself. Sunlight will hasten the process.
Ya Thomas, I can't get over that tree either. Sends shivers done me spine every time I look at it. LOL

07-21-2008, 03:56 PM
The auto stores now sells a chemical that will stop the yellowing and brittleness of plastic. My chem professor worked for the plant and he was on the team that developed it. :)

Elvira
07-27-2008, 08:53 AM
That trees is gorgeous! I have so many poinsettias. I actually got them at an auction several years ago. It was a mall that was being leveled and they sold off all their holiday displays. AND you know what kind of decorations they have. I managed to get super thick greenery garland complete with lights ea. length was about 300 ft. 2 sets of those. The poinsettias, which are massive, and more real life like than those you find at the dollar store. I think for all of it I paid 50 bucks, I was in heaven. I so could make a smaller version of that tree, what a great idea, I might even string some lights through-out it. hmm...thanks for posting this sickie.

I guess when you have no room for a tree you hang it upside down from the ceiling. I also did not care for it, but it was funny. Thanks for sharing these Sickie.
Carrie, I loved the one you posted with the wine bottles. Really pretty actually.

That would be hilarious!
The only time I've heard of tampons being used for things other than their original purpose was when I was enlisted some people said that they were good to pack deep cuts and such with. Later, we were told by some professionals that it wasn't a good idea, and if someone had a deep cut, you should pack it with gauze. I know it's not really on topic, but if you put up decorations like I do, that kind of first aid info could come in handy! :)

CB, that is a really cute tree you made. Hard to look at it sideways, but very pretty.

And I was surprised to find you can actually buy "upside down trees" that are designed to be hung on the ceiling. I thought it was just some weirdo with a unique idea. Turns out to be a lot of them. LOL
Seems like a good idea if you have small kids or rambunctious critters in the house.
