As an artist, I have a problem with anyone telling me what I can and can't do. heh

They best be glad it's not my door they are knocking on, if I want lights up in May or any other time of the year it's my business. Who's to say they are Chistmas lights?

I have lights up now, I keep lights up all the time. I have a display for every holiday. I festive!

And what good nativity doesn't have a pair of pink flamingos?

"And what good nativity doesn't have a pair of pink flamingos?"

LMAO My kinda humor. In fact, if they made a big deal out of the props, I'd add flamingos to the Nativity just to tick them off! p

I guess some folks just think everyone should be like them. Folks like natzis, communists, people without lives of there own. LOL

Now for the wet blanket. In truth if the lights in the display aren't built for permanent installation then they need to come down. Ordinances are passed not only to protect your property but also the property around you. There is one way they could keep the house decked out. If they change out the entire light display every two months. Keep it safe for you and your family and let it shine all year long!

I've often thought that it would be great if someone came out with a light string that had Holiday settings. Ie. Just red setting for Valentine's Day, Red, white and blue setting for patriotic days, etc. That way they can just stay up all year.

LOL Elvira. Guess I could duct tape them dandelions, rag weed, crab grass and all the rest of those ' I don't know there names' broad leaf weeds I mow once a week to the side of the house.

See, if you want to keep your lights up year round, go right ahead. To each his own. I don't b/c I think it makes Christmas more special to have it up for that short time. But it is damn difficult to take it all down and put it away -- one day it might stay up just because I'm that lazy!

On a side note, the comments on that article were amusing. heh

I'm with you as far as aesthetics go, Mummy. Coming from a theatre background, I'm out for the "wow" factor. Hard to get that when props are out all year.

On the other hand, I definitely understand the procrastination factor!
