Want to be a part of the biggest holiday get-together of 2008? With the recent number of local decorating meetings, why should you travel to Houston for the 2008 Workshop? What makes this event so special?
First of all; the place! This year’s workshop is being held at the Lone Star Convention Center, located in beautiful Conroe, Texas. Just 30 minutes north of downtown Houston, the Lone Star is a state-of-the art facility, with over 56,000 square feet of convention center space… and we have it all reserved for the workshop!
The Convention Center features a large ballroom that we will be using for our vendor trade show. In addition, three “classrooms” are being used for many of the classes and a larger square foot room is being used for those classes that require more space for display items.
The educational offerings are the second reason that this workshop will be such a good time. Classes are being held for every level of knowledge, experience, and interest. Whether you want to learn how to weld, animate, or just the basics of design, you will be instructed by some of the best and most knowledgeable decorators in our hobby.
While we’ve had some good educational offerings in the past, this year is a whole different ballgame. With a larger event, and a bigger facility, we have the capabilities to have multiple classes running concurrently, which we’ve never been able to do before. Why is this important? The fact is, we have such varied levels of decorating experiences attending the workshop. It’s very difficult to host a class that will appeal to all levels of knowledge. By holding different classes at the same time, people have a choice of seeing what appeals to them.
We mentioned the HUGE vendor room, and that’s the third factor that makes this event unique. In the past, we’ve had a vendor rep or two attend workshops, and our attendees have really appreciated having product experts with items on hand to either order or sell. 2008 will be the first year that we will be partnering with many vendors to create a trade show atmosphere within the workshop. Vendors like LightoRama, Dlight, Creative Displays, Action Lighting, Illumimax, Colonnade Lighting, Aurora, 1000 Bulbs, Suprtech, Creative Decorating and others will be there to show you the best in Christmas products. Have a question about products? Want to see an item up close and get a feel for how it works? Here’s your chance!
Registration is only $60 and includes lunch on Friday and Saturday, your attendee workbook, and attendance in any of the classes. You cannot find a better deal than that!
Regardless of where your online “Christmas home” is, we want to invite each and every one of you to attend, learn, and celebrate our amazing hobby. For more information, or to register for the event, visit the workshop website at houston2008.texaschristmaslights.com (sorry no direct link but I'm pretty new here and don't have any posts yet).
