Spring cleaning has begun, and man! The junk I tossed. Its amazing how much one collects overs the years. It seems endless, I keep finding junk that should have been tossed years ago. My Christmas stuff is nicely put into plastic tote boxes, I have 9 candy cane blow molds I will take to a local senior home and donate. All those icicle christmas lights that will never make it back on the house will be donated too. My mother gave me her light up wire reindeer's to donate too, I think shes tired of one light burning out and the whole string goes out. Whose stupid idea was that anyways?
Anyone else jump into this tedious chore? What treasures have you found?
I found.... a Beta Max Machine, (complete with about 10 movies) LOL who even has these things anymore? AND... I have no idea what this thing is called, or why we have it, but...it could look like some kinky contraption, you put these gravity boots on and hang upside down... omg, don't ask, I have no idea where it came from. LOL

LOL Elvira. It's amazing what you can find digging in forgotten boxes. I've gone threw most everything threw the winter months. Putting like things together and almost alike things in the same box instead of strewn threw 8 or 9 different boxes. Makes loosing them allot easier. Now when I misplace them I've misplaced all of them. LOL

You ain't just kidding, I'm the queen of misplacement! I always say "dont't worry I put it somewhere really safe" UGH! Ya, so safe even I can't find it. I can't even count the number of times thats happened.

Yep. Then you go buy another one and end up with two ro three of them. LOL I've NEVER done that before. LOL

OH! Yes, I have 3 weed plucker thingys, I don't know why, but that thing always seems to get lost in the garage. Its off to home depot to buy another one. Then.... they mysteriously show up and end up getting thrown into a box for a garage sale, only to replace them again when I can't find the one I had... its a vicious cycle. lol Really, I think my problem is a need a 4 car garage for storage. 2 sheds and a double doesn't cut it.

When you do start, be sure to let us know of the wacky or outrageous things you found. I am just scratching the surface of my clean-up I have accumulated so much junk over the years DH says I have enough to furnish 3 more houses, and the worst part is.... he isn't even joking.

I had to do my cleaning when I moved last summer. It was crazy some of the crap we had. You know, a little baby food lazy susan, a spice rack that a first grader could have made, a ladder that looked like if you blew on it, it woud fall apart. Lots of junk. But, that is one thing about selling a house/moving that is nice -- it forces you to pare down, b/c the thought of brining all that crap into my nice new home did not make me happy.

A little baby food lazy susan? Still have babies do you? LOL I think I'm going to suggest a new house to get this junk gone. Wish me luck! :D

Well, in my defense, my youngest was only 2 when we moved, so it hadn't been that long!
I think you should totally get a new house -- it will solve all your problems! lol. Good luck!

I happen to like my dandelions. Nothing like mowing threw 100's of them to get my yard Nazi neighbors all up in arms. LOL There lawns are all chemically depended. Sprayed to the point of burning the grass 2 or 3 times a year. I got plenty of weeds. Figure if it's green it gets mowed. Besides Elvira, I'll only manage to misplace it. LOL

Mowing the grass with all the seeds floating in the air reminds me of when I was a kid.
Going to an auction tonight. Might even bring some more stuff home to loose in boxes by Christmas. LOL

I would be one of them nazi neighbors all up in arms! I would be horrified if I saw you mowing 100's of dandelions! LOL
OH! Auction.... good luck, I hope you get something fun. (maybe a dust scoop) :D

Every once in a while I go through stuff and try to clear it out. I have hauled many car loads to good will in recent years, and would haul a lot more if I could get away with it. Hubby is the pack rat, and worse yet remembers everything and I know will want it if I get rid of it, so I do it gradually. I got rid of 3 cst iron pans that hadn't been used in years he mentioned a while back that he knows how to redo them to look like new. Didnt say anything but they are long gone. I have so much stuff in the basement I can't stand going down there it is over welming ot try to make sense of it all. I just give up before I start. Over winter tried to get it straightened but only moved the stuff around.. What I want is
1., a big dumpster, and
2. a salvation army truck pulling up to my door and haul out what I dind't throw away.
Seriously , it needs to be done but I know it won't be

I'm along with Sickie.....I know everything that is in my garage AND I NEED IT! maybe not today but maybe next month....I wrote on my blog this week that the boxes in my garage are like a growing ivy plant that just keeps growing. Boxes stacked to the ceiling.... it would make a great maze for halloween. BUT I am making an attempt this month to go out there & work a few hrs. a week to try and get things squared away. The only motivation to do this is because we absolutely cannot have people back-tracking on halloween night & trying to get back through the house & out the front door where people are lined up to come in.
SO I want to extend my haunt into the garage so they can exit there. Thats why I have to address it.

See, this in when living with your mother in law comes in super handy. I can't fill up the basement with junk, b/c she is down there! And besides, she has enough stuff for the both of us! (And I'm sure that by the time I'm at her place in life, I will too.)
But my husband likes dandelions too! And my kids love to blow em, so what can you do?
It is funny, however, when the neighbors see them blowing the weeds and the seeds float through the air like pretty little nuclear bombs. Ahhhh, to mess with neighbors. What fun!

I've read somewhere that if you cultivate dandelions like you would annuals the flowers can get up to 4 inches across. Imagine the size of the puff balls on them!

Sickie, the problem is that he has things he will NEVER use, I have gone through bags of old clothes that he has had since at least the 80s, (that will ablsoutely never fit him again, ) and have used some for prop clothes, but he just won't part with them, we have (gag) owl lamps from the 80's that I hated in the 80's, but are on a shelf because he thinks maybe someday we will use them, the same as 6 bar stools, when we don't have a bar, a entertainment center from 1977, whcih is is good shape, but too big, and not used at anyrate, about 6 big coolers, only use 2, etc, etc, etc. And he knows where and what it all is. I bought him a deep fryer type of thing one year, got it at Sam's club, a really nice one that is in the box yet, cuz he wants to wait until we get a nicer house(?) to use it in, which was 10-12 years ago or so, we are never moving, for one thing too da*m much crap!! And that is one story of many. I mean, I have alot of christmas, halloween and other craft type stuff, but this is different, it is hoarding, or something, I don't know. I just go crazy trying to deal with it all.

Bethene...it was nice to see you admit that in the end .......about the decorations!!lol I too have stuff...clothes from the 80's, I have my very very large Barbie collection because I can't seem to sell it, I'm 50 mind you. I have Hinda Samatha, she is from back when people stood in lines and beat each other over Cabbage Patch Dolls, I have all the stuff from my 1st Holy communion including my dress...............and let me tell you something...how lucky you are with your hubby only having HIS stuff!!! I HAVE OTHER PEOPLES STUFF!!! Thats why I own 60 boxes of xmas decorations.
I'm sorry this may be morbid but whenever anyone dies in my family they call me....I'm like the Ghostbuster guys>>>>>Who Ya Gonna Call???>>>>>Miss MUFFY! I come with the uhaul truck. Everyone in our family is gone & there were not a lot of children born so to preserve our family I keep everything!! I have no kids & my cousin has one son, 15. That kid is worried>>>>he says>>>I only want her xmas & halloween decorations.
I'm fearful of that & the only hope I have is that he meets & marries a pac rat or I'll be in trouble. I mean they would never take me in the nursing home with all this stuff. I mean I could decorate a department store for xmas and my halloween stuff is catching up. These big items from Halloween really take up square footage!!lol

I still have 100's of toilet paper rolls in the basement. And a garage full of scrap wood cuz I can't seem to toss it out. There's always a need for a 1/2 inch by 3 foot piece of plywood. Just gotta keep it till I find out what that need is. LOL

Muffy-- that's the problem- he brings stuff home from other peoples houses too!!LOL! Thats how we ended up with 6 bar stools and no bar!!LOL! I guess I don't mind the collecting of things, I just don't know what to do with it all any more, we don't have that big of a house! And I have no room to work on any bigger halloween props, no work area, he's hogging them all!!LOL. We actually have a 2 stall garage and a 4 stall pole barn, stuffed to the gills with his car stuff. I really don't mind it, but I kinda want a little space to call my own, ya know? I do readily admit collecting a good amount of things to use for crafts of all kinds, but all my stuff, even the halloween props, take up a small part of the miss mash that is our basement mess. Oh well, sigh, . I just get frustrated trying to do any cleaning down there, it just seems to get moved around.

You will not believe this! I had to go out and buy a dandelion plucker! That hand plucker was no where to be found. (until we do a major clean up in the garage of course, then it will show up) Soooooo.... I bought one of those ones that you step on, hopefully should save the back. What a great deal for 35.00 I can't wait to send hubby out to use it. LOL
