Blinks, do you have a deer or a wiper motor?

I have not bought the deer yet or the motor this is something that I was rolling around in my head. I was thinking of getting one of those target hunting deers. i was told they have a section in the body that can be removed and that is where I was Hoping to hide the motors. What do you have in mind? Love Blinks

Yep. If you attach an arm to the deer motor, it can pull a lever every rotation to make it wave. Let me know if you need an illustration. :)

This was the set-up I was going to use comments Welcome:

blue square is the motor, red dots are the bushings blots and nuts, the green dot is the pivot point, this will also need blots and nuts and bushing and washers, the yellow dot is the flat alum stock arm that I have to make.Unless I buy a deer motor, BTW what was that link again?
You Have to cut the LOWER PVC pipe so it will inter-react with the upper arm of the PVC and be able to bend . If you use 2" pvc Pipe( like I did ) to make my Santa .Then you will need to use a hair Larger pipe that will fit on outside the upper pipe and be able to move freely. Then On the Lower Pipe you cut a "U" shape out so when the arm moves it can be drawn up to the right height. ( I'm sorry I can not give you a size for this just yet, I have to go to Lowe's and see what fits outside the 2" pipe I used Last yr, but I will let you all know what the size is). Maybe a 2 1/2" pipe.Hugs Blinky

I have a question about The Waving Santa's arm. This is why I have never made a prop with moving arms. Trying this year for first time. How do you keep the prop's clothing or arm stuffing from getting tangled in the mechanism?

To Whom are you directing this question? there are several ways to make a arm move.
first way would be a up /down movement.2nd is a in/out movement from the elbow.I use the second method
http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l50/Blinky_12/Pneumatic%20Drawing/arm.jpghttp://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l50/Blinky_12/Pneumatic%20Drawing/arm-1.jpg
as seen in this drawing.(cross cut section of arm )you take a deer motor (http://www.cwebdirect.com/andeermot.html) mount it in some plexiglass then you add the turning arm on the motor .1/2"flat stock alum. bought at Lowe's.I run this inside the 2"pvc pipe that I make the frame out of.using a piece of flat stock connected to a hand I then hinge the two pieces together.(using a screw that has not been tighten to tight, it needs slack to move)When Making the pivot point in the pvc pipe put the pivot screw where it doesn't interfere with the action of the rod movement. you must have 2 screws one on each side front and back of pvc) I hope this helps if you have any questions please let me know You can also mount this to the outside of the pvc pipe if you want

Chicken wire. And leave enough room in clothes around the inside of the elbow to "pooch" out. The cloth should fold away from the joint instead of inside. Just be sure that the arm is balanced so the motor doesn't have to work too hard. His arm being straight up should work great. This is what I was planning on doing for this year. He'd be on a bench though. I like the deer idea.

Sikntwized That is why I run the flat stock alum inside the arm,so it doesnt get hung up on clothes. I use 2" pvc pipe the make the frame. That is enough to make the arm look good without having to add padding.aT the end of the 2"pipe I inset a plastic drain, that I have cut a hole in the center to run a 1/2" diameter piece of pvc pipe out that has the hand connected to it. or you can run the flat stock all the way up into the hand, depends on if you want to take the prop apart for storage.the pictures I posted is a cross cut section of what the arm looks like.
