I'm one of those fuddy duddies that believes outdoor decorations should at least be taken down if not packed away by the first weekend of January at the latest. The neighborhood where I live in CA is pretty good about it with one exception. They are still up! Does anyone else think this is just tacky?

It's still Jan. Not tacky at all. I've been through some small towns going to auctions in the middle of summer and have seen houses with C7 and C9 Christmas lights strung and sagging over porches and eaves. That's tacky. LOL
Outdoor lights are put up but I still have the garland going around the living room with the white lights behind it. Guess just to lazy to take it down yet. LOL

Seen lots of snowmen and mangers still up outside. Some blow molds. I didn't put much up this year, so it was easy to take down.

So it's Feb. 2 at around 4:00 am and I'm outside with Dottie ( my dog ) looking down the street at a house still covered with lights. My first thoughts? "Man that looks good in snow." I'm sure there's plenty of houses around here who, despite all the good weather' are still covered with lights. But unlike these folks they have unplugged there timers. LOL
Guess some folks like to hold onto good things as long as they can. Can't say much myself. Had two Jack-O-Lanterns on the front porch. Was hoping they'd make it for Christmas. Just past Thanksgiving we had a real warm up. It's amazing how fast they turned into a liquid. Man what a mess. LOL

Like that verizon comercial....did you see it? Where the guy plugged his display back in? Funny.
My stuff is all down and in boxes...just have to move the boxes into storage. It will happen this month. God, I hope it does!

I ran out of boxes this season......so my dining room is still full of xmas stuff that needs to be packed away. I'll get to it soon......when we start making Valentine candies everything else sits cause you work from the time you get out of bed till the wee hours of the morn when you crawl back into bed.

Growing up we would decorate the weekend after Thanksgiving and take down everything (indoor and outdoor) December 31st. This past year we had an extra Christmas visit with the mom-in-law so we left everything up until Jan. 15th. There are some people on my street who still have their Christmas lights messily strung up around their house. I think it's tacky and I think leaving up Christmas lights and decor year round takes the specialness out of Christmas decorating. (Also I decorate for Halloween around mid-October and am the only one on the street to do it so I need the house clear. No one else is that cool on my street so their houses are really the same all year round)

I took mine down the 2nd week for January. Around here it depends on the weather, when we get a warm spell, we take them down. Some years we have a star on the chimney, that stays up most of the winter, until the roof isn't slippery, for obvious reasons. I have seen some houses still lit, and honestly, I like it. brights a other waze dreary winter. But once we get a few warm days, then, I figure you should take them down. I don't like to see stuff up in the spring or summer. That is tacky!

Just took down the red, white and green C9 lights from the porch yesterday while simultaneously putting up the red and white C9 lights for Valentine's day. Haven't turned them on yet, but I figured since I was on the ladder anyhow . . .

That snowman I bought w/ the xmas tree...he is about 4 ft. high i guess....he's white guys!! Like a stuffed animal! I put 2 big garbage bags over him, one on him, one on the tree and I'm ashamed to say he is still sitting on top of the wooden TV stand I had him on for xmas. See what happens when you are a hermit and don't have company over!!!lol 2 weeks ago we finally got the last of the xmas stuff off the dining room table! I'm not sure where that snowman is gonna live around here in the off season>>>>>>Can't stick that white thing in the garage!

I try to keep the decorations up until atleast Jan 6 ( three kings day) But I'm too anal and claustrophobic, this year it was all down on Jan 2nd and all put away on Jan 3rd. I was like the Tasmanian devil whirl wheeling throw the house, although to this date I'm still finding pine needles throughout the house, ugh.....
