Went to my moms Saturday and ended up with most of her old Christmas stuff. She does a small fiber optic tree and puts stuff on her mantle. Hasn't put up a big tree in years. She wanted to get rid of stuff so she could store more stuff to get more stuff....vicious cycle. LOL Lives in a small condo. Got most of the stuff sorted and put away. Found things that need to go back. I learned my old packing skills from her. "We'll put it in this box and remember it's there." LOL

Wish I could pack like my X. She got so much in one box you couldn't call it packing. It was particle displacement. LOL

Thats how I came across alot of my xmas stuff. We had a pretty big family & unfortunately everybody died. Family had so much xmas stuff but my Aunt & her son & his wife don't have anything in their houses that does not "Have its Place!". They did not want to get rid of the stuff incase my cousins son happens to marry a pack rat when he gets older. He's 16.

So they all agreed.....Lets give it to Debbie......she don't throw anything away!

LOL We're all called pack rats or horders or whatever, but people admire us when they need something they can't find, or when it comes to our props and displays!

Yea, but when we need that one little piece of aluminum angle when we're building that do-hicky, we got it! Rule #1 never throw good stuff away, Rule #2 it's all good stuff!

Congrats again on the score Putrid!

Your mom's packing "Skills" sound like mine Putrid!! I also am a pack rat, and live with a pack rat, so between us, we have enough "stuff" to fill 4 houses, all crammed into one. (Of course my stuff is SO much more worth saving than his- LOL! ) But, you know if I get rid of something, that is when I will need it for a prop or craft or, something! I have a story about how many Christmas ornaments I have-- One year my MIL for reasons unknown, decided she wasn't going to live to see another Christmas, so save special, gift ornaments, and gave the rest to the Salvation Army. Well, needless to say, she didn't pass on, so come the next Christmas, all us "girls" ( my SIL's and myself)got together to help her with the tree, and hardly any ornaments. She was too embarrassed to tell us where they were, so pretended she didn't know. So, Beth to the rescue- even though I had decorated 2 full size trees and a 3 foot one, I had enough ornaments at home yet to do her tree also!! I don't have quite that many now, both my kids decorate a tree with out having had to buy any ornaments,. Sorry, that is sorta off subject, it just popped into my head. I guess , cuz when she did die, I got most of her Christmas, and all of her Halloween,(she made the first prop I ever saw, a witch on her front porch, sitting on a chair, every year she set her up- into her 80's - she would love the stuff I do now,she inspired me)

Totally cool story Bethene. Not off subject at all.

spookineer, LOL when I cut off the buisness end of a holy or poinsettia floral branch I save the rest of it. I saved all the brown coated wire from all the berry garlands ( the red ones Wal marts sold ). Thinking about making vines out of them for the Halloween graveyard. I've also got a collection ( a box of ) of de-bulbed non working light strands. Thinking of making vines out of them as well. LOL

LMAO Sickie Ickie. PACK RATS!!!! LOL Turning today's trash into tomarow's!

The first thing I look for at garage sales is the vintage Christmas decorations and Halloween decorations. There's nothing like them, and especially the old cutouts to bring back great old memories.

Yes this is why I like to go to garage sales to. This summer I was able to get some old christmas decorations and I just love them! The really cool ones are the ones they made or have been in the family forever!
