Do you think that each of us should snap a few pictures of how we store or where we store our Xmas decorations....I mean my Halloween stuff seriously took over the garage this season, so I'm running out of room. I think it would be comical to show HOW we store our stuff.......perhaps some may be enlightened as to why the spouses are like>>>>>>"You're buying MORE???? And where do you plan on putting IT???"

That is an everyday conversation at my house!!!!hehehehheheheh

Now promise that you are all my friends and when I shoot & post the pictures of my garage....no one!!!lol will say....Well MUF.....maybe they got a point!!!hahhahahah

So lets show our storage spots!!

Sounds like my garage I take up about 1/4 of his side with just Halloween stuff.
my Xmas is stored in the garage , basement, and in my workshop area. I am now getting 2 very large birdcages for Hallo but i can use those for storage too woohoo. I will have to dig up some pics for the Xmas storage.

ooo....what are you using the bird cages for?

I am lucky b/c I don't have too much right now -- and I have a dedicated "storage room" that is attached to the house, but was an addition so it has no heating or AC. But it does have power, so I have lights and a humidifier in there. But, I haven't finished unpacking all the stuff in the garage yet, either, so it is yet to be seen if I have enough space, I guess!

Lol Bethene I can just see the Maytag repair guy go down there in the dark to fix the Hot water tank. Rofl The props would scare the heck out of him.

I don't know if you saw my gravedigger Ernie . But I made him as a B-day pres for my Daughter and she took him home and put him in the Garage. Her Hubby Is on The HPD here.and when he came home at 5am in the dark he pulled his gun on Ernie and started yelling "Stop' Freeze" . Ernie almost got shot..:D

thats the kind of prop I want, one that stores himself away.
My husband is a neat freak so everthing we have is organized with precision. We store all of our decorations and props in the crawl space above the house. earlier this year we had to add more plyboard just to be able to extend the space up there to make more room.

Still have everything up and still making more. LOL Keep brining home more boxes from work and more 'projects' from all these 75% to 80% sales. LOL Everything plain and undecorated goes into the attic. Trees ( except the aluminum one ), garland, lights and the such. Anything made of glass, plastic, paper and the like goes into a room in the basement. OK in two rooms in the basement. Until I get better organized anyway. LOL All my unfinished projects will go in another room in the basement. Got a table set up. Taking pics as I go for the web site. Just means I'll have to add more pages. LOL

I have to walk past all my tombstones and clown corpses to get to the Christmas stuff in the attic.

lol sickie clean it up!! I have 2 storage rooms that cost $$$$ but what do you get rid of?
I can't make up my mind. and then I rent props to business to here in Houston.
One place I rented to this Year was Ryan's Steak House Halloween rental of a Witch and then at Christmas they Rented the Grinch. Hey it pays the bills, lol
and Dear Old Jack The Ripper showed them the Santa I made for me. and the war was on.
Ryan's want to rent that this coming year. But I made it for meeee.

Sickie Ickie

ok will do it. The contact is on the other computer and jack is home now ,But I will do it soon.:o
It also depends on weather the prop is Static or not.

Blinky what a clever idea that is. I would be afraid that they might get damaged....does your contract cover a damage deposit?

In my house since I let people start coming thru for Halloween I make sure I put the $$$$ stuff up high & am not afraid if other things get damaged. Of course that was my motto this year but last Halloween I was just sick cause my talking singing skeleton got broke....I got to busy to watch how it was being activated to talk & sure enough it got broke. We are clueless how to fix it.

I realize now that when we have these things at our house stuff is gonna happen so where there are things that "do Something" you just have to have help that stands there & activates it for people to look at.

Ok.....I am not ashamed to show my storage...I know I should be....but with all we had going on here building my commercial kitchen and all I just never got to the storage....so I will shoot some photos of my storage "AS IS". When your spouses get on your cases....just show them my pictures & say>>>"Hey ...at least it doesn't look like this!!"lol

I make all rental props with metal plumbers pipe not the plastic PVC I learned the hard way children do like to try and break things and I even had some pull the eyes out.
but yes I do have a damage clause in my contract.
I even was once in Ryan's when a boy was trying to pull the witch's eyes out and I walked up to him and said : why are you doing that ? and he said what's it to you? and I said oh just about $300.00 bucks where is your mom at. so now I make the props strong so they can fight back.:D

I even caught kids kicking the Grinch for some reason.Boy did they get a surpise when they did that.
But the basic contract is to long to post here so email me your addy and I will forward a sample copy.

Please if you do this to earn bucks use the metal pipe and save your self a headache..or you may repairing props everytime you turn around..
If you buy the plumbers pipe at Lowe's they will re-thread it for you for free after you cut it to the size you need. Save the receipt. you drop off the pipe and they thread it.or you can wait.
and 10' long pipe runs about $5.00 bucks plus fitting but it is wroth it. after awhile you get tried off repairing props.

Oh Blinky I would never rent stuff to businesses, I'm not a builder at all!lol Just wondered if your contract had a damage clause. As for my Skeleton....what is damaged is the voice box.....there is that little button on the bottom of it between his feet where you can step on it & make him talk. They must have jumped on it a few times...actually I caught a kid this last Halloween jumping up & down on it telling his friends...I know this thing talks.

So anyways...its the voice box.....its real staticky...could it be in the connection from the button to the box?

Nancj....glad I could be of service!lol

If it is static, it may be a connection problem to the speaker. Are you brave enough to open it?

MM is it handy where you can take a pic?

I store all holiday decor in my garage. I have an overwhelming amount of both Christmas and Halloween stuff. I went to the store and got a few huge sterlite storage tubs with locking lids and put everything in them. I managed to fit my Halloween decor in 3 extra large tubs, and my Christmas in 5 tubs (1 extra large and 4 large). I was storing these in my attic but recently my garage ceiling fell in and all of my Halloween stuff fell to it's death. So now I just line the walls of the garage with them. That works. :)

all my stuff is in a mess in the basement, I am trying to organize it, have to get down there this weekend. I am still putting Christmas away, it is in the basement but i have to re organize it. I have some tubs, but alot of boxes, I would love to get more tubs, some day. Then I have to get to the halloween. My basement is such a mess, it will take forever!

I with you, bethene...I just brought in my outside stuff yesterday, and now It looks like I'm stockpiling the livingroom for a Christmas bombshelter. I have to organize this mess and I just really don't feel like it today. But my mom is coming, and that is always a light under my keister cause I don't want to hear, "wow, it sure is messy."!

"But Mom, now it's MY room!" :p

LMAO That NEVER worked for me. All I got was 'It's my HOUSE! Now clean it up." Never worked with my wife either. I told her once that marriage was a give and take relationship. I make messes, you clean them up. Keeps us both occupied. To this day I still take my shoes off at the door. LOL

I find that not only keeping the storage area somewhat organized helps but keeping a list on each box is a BIG help. I'm buying stuff all summer long from auctions. I can either make a list for that stuff or store it, if there's room, with like stuff I already have. I'm not a neat freak by no means nor am I as well organized as I should be. Even with all this in place I still loose and misplace things. Just because I have a system that works doesn't mean I do. LOL

Putrid Putting lists on the boxes was a good idea ( 2 thumbs )
But you guys don't want to see my 2 storage spaces lol the mummies may attack..
