My mother wanted me to find and download the song "Are my ears on straight?" for her. I found it. Not exactly my kind of music, but this girl has a very good voice. Only I can't find her name. I would like to include it on the label when I burn it to CD. Surely some of our Christmas experts should know who did this song?

I just put the title in quotes in a search along with the words: sung by :)

I used to work for a library. My job was to find the unfindable in the internet. LOL

There's a looooong story about when I was co-directing a show and a little girl sang that. I'll tell that one sometime, I'm sure. :)

Ickie that is the COOOOOOOOLEST thing I have EVER learned online! (No offence to anyone else I may have learned from). :)

LOL Yep. If you want words to stay together during a search and not be split up, put them in quotes. It only reads it as a continuous phrase to look for then. (Ie. "colored Ice")

Another tip, if you have more than one word you are looking for, but they don't have to be a phrase, connect them with AND . (Ie. Ice and color) It only brings back results with all words you are looking for. :D

Well, here's the story...

I've been a community theatre actor for about 30+ years and have been trying to do professional work only 2 yrs. I've been a director for theatre for over 20 yrs.

This takes place about 10 years ago when a community theatre I originally started wanted to do a fund raiser. The person directing at the time decided on a talent show for the community using our singer/actors.

There was this little girl. Sweet as pie, who decided to sing "I Want a Hippopotamus For Chirstmas." Rehearsals went flawlessly. Her voice was wonderful for her age and she really enjoyed showing off on stage.

Then performance night came and disaster struck...

She gracefully walks out on stage, and the control booth in back starts teh introduction to her song. She beams at the audience and starts singing...then the music stops.

She looks around bewildered.

The control booth starts her music again. She begins singing again...and the music stops.

By this time she is getting flustered and frustrated.

The director steps out on stage and explains quickly that the sound booth is having a little problem, but we're going to try again.

Two more times this happens and the little girl is trying to hold back tears. She is having a real nightmare in front of a large audience.

At this point, the actors are gathering backstage out of anger and sympathy. We have come up with a plan. "One more time, little girl, and keep going no matter what," we tell her.

The music starts, she begins singing again...and the music stops AGAIN!...but this time, the actors/singer take up where the music left off. With us humming and LA La'ing, she is able to continue her song and finally gets through it. She runs off stage crying, every actor backstage steps out onto stage and gives her applause, the audience gives her a standing ovation.

That was a very rough day for that little girl, and she grew up mighty fast in those several minutes it took to get through her song while the control booth frantically looked for the short in their system. I honestly don't know if she ever stepped on stage again, however if looking at it in the right way- it goes on to show tenacity is valued by everyone. ( I still feel terrible for her. )

That's great. I love the standing ovation part. She had to have courage to hang in there like she did.

*I* was reminded what true tenacity was that day!

Correct. I almost had a copy of this 45 rpm record, but I found out the guy wanted $40.00 for it so I told him no thanks.
