Don't know if this is popular (first I've seen it) or if anyone has tried it, but I saw a neat thing in my neighborhood today. A guy strung a few trees with lights all the way up the trunk, then at the point where the branches started, he proped a red spotlight pointing up. Looked really nice.
Just thought I'd give you another reason to make good use of your stuff!

Sounds like the normal palm tree decoration down here in Fl.

I have red icicle lights on my house-(got them for 69cents a box a few years ago at Menards, I guess everyone else thought red was ugly- but seeing as I am cheap I thought what the heck, and I actually like them) On the front of the garage we have a motion spot light that now has the red spot lights from Halloween in them, looks good.

I use 8 floodlights on my house, 4 green and 4 red, alternating. It looks very cool, IMO.
Problem is, they are all incandescents, and I run my lights to music. They don't last very long, a week at best, in those conditions. So I keep a stockpile on hand.
I have not been able to come across any reasonably priced LED floods to use yet.

We use all our halloween floodlights on the house & use green & red ones down in our little tree orchard where we position wooden deers. The white ones are on 2 very large wreathes that hang on each end of the house, red & green are put next to each other & give off a great color & are positioned on the front porch shining on our 6ft. candy canes & smaller pieces of candy. Not sure if we are gonna use the blue ones we purchased for halloween that were in our cemetery yet.

I use my Halloween flood lights as well: http://www.bradleyrobertson.com/gallery/albums/xmas2007/normal_PICT0544.jpg The incandescents icicle lights wash out a lot of the blue but I am switching to LEDs to help fix that next year.
I have had to replace half of them because the paint flakes off though. If you have any suggestions I have a post here about it: http://www.christmasfanclub.com/showthread.php?t=355

I bought the GE Light & Sounds of Christmas box from KMart cause I didnt have time to do the roll-ur-own VSA/Vixen-type controllers.. next year I will (hey, who am I kiddin, all my time will be taken up workin on '08 animatonic skellys and pirate ship).. ...Anyway, in addition to the C7 lights along the house(I shudda gone with icicle lights, wudda looked better) I put several alternating red/green floods across the front of the house, that cycle back and forth with the music. They look good, and I have a yellow flood pointing up thru the Japanese plum tree just behind the manger, lights the branches nicely.
Biggest problem is a street light that's right at the corner of my yard washes out most of the good lighting. It did the same with my Pirate Haunt on HW... Hmmm, where did I put my BB gun..?
