First the worst trees I've ever seen was in a store at a shopping mall in Joliet Ill. years ago. They had to be between 5 to 7 ft tall but no more than 2 ft at the base. Looked more like green spikes made of evergreen branches. The only decorations were big dull purple or gold thick flat swirly round things. Even as a kid my first thought was ' painted diarrhea'. LOL They were real proud of these too. Seen em everywhere you looked.

The ugliest tree I ever took part in had to be in 3rd grade. We made 'stained glass' ornaments. The directions are real easy. Halfway blow up a balloon and cover with crape paper. What color do you get when you mix all that crape paper together? Brown. Not just brown. Blotchy, spotted, wrinkly brown. The teacher wanted to take it down and do something else. It stayed as is. Are you kidding? As an 8 year old there was nothing cooler than a tree covered in rotting guts. The lights and garland made it all real Christmasy. LOL

remember folks, one mans trash is another mans treasure. And beauty is subject to taste. Please don't get offended if someone posts negative about something you like.

We did "You're a Good Man Charlie Brown" several years ago and we used a stick with a feww brown off shoots for the Christmas tree. :D

When I was a kid, we'd actually go into the woods and find a cedar tree. Usually my dad would have found it during the year and kept tabs on it.

We always thought they were the most gorgeous trees ever.

When we look back at photos, they are the most shapeless, round, bulbous, ugly things ever... but they are still awesome.

Nothing beats the smell of cedar, but they are so hard to find.

LOL xmas_wilbert. My in-laws did that for years. Always seemed to get trees with three or four tops. And never staight. You got my vote on the sent. Always seemed to fill the house.

I actually cannot stand the decorations on the Capitol Christmas tree. I went to DC in my teens to watch The Nutcracker and we went to look at the tree. Ugh! Can't they find better decorations?? The trees surrounding are cute, though. They are decorated by each state.

I remember when I was little, my father went out into the woods with a neighbor and brought home a 16 foot cedar tree. My mom was furious! She hated it. I was only 5 or 6 so I thought it was cool because it was sooo big. We ended up keeping it and decorating anyway, but my mom always picked the trees after that.

Upon seeing a tree at a neighbors house during a party, my husband told me that, "That tree is a shrub, not a Christmas tree."
Ha!
And I have say that it was rather squat :D
