Simply awesome!!! Man! It's too bad Stuff doesn't come in colors! It would save tons of work!

How did you paint the Stuff so perfectly?

a small 1 inch paint brush.. and letting a girl friend paint them... The paint is oil base that was used for the high colors and the base color is a flat water base ginger brown color

Thanks for the comments... I didn't start anything until I got all of halloween put up... around Nov. 3rd... been busy since then

about the only thing else I was going to put out is these little balls that I bought from Deals, about 6 to 8" round and wrapped it with clear see through foil to make them look like gum drops... I will take pics tomorrow... the ball come in different colors.. this project was by far the easiest one...

Other than this I have been working hard on my computer light display....very time consuming

The gingerbread girl was made by tracing a little girl that was almost 4' tall.... but the rest was free handed... She got a kick out of it... She tell here friends that the gingerbread girl is her....

hey guys, two questions, as I am thinking about doing foam board stuff this year, or maybe styrofoam:

1. Where is the best place to get foam board
2. What is the best paint for it or styrofoam?

Well, you asked two questions in #1 without knowing it.

1) There's two types of foam board. bead board (the one with all the polyfoam dots that get all over), and extruded (usually pink or blue.) Both are considered insulation, and are sold in 4 x 8 sheets in Menards, Home Depot, Ace, etc. I find Menards is usually cheaper. The extruded and bead board both come in thicknesses of below 1" to up to 4" usually. Most crafts are done with the 2" extruded because it is thick enough not to just break if you bump it, and thin enough where it won't cost ya mega bucks. Current price for extruded is somewhere around $15 for a 4 x 8 sheet, bead board is cheaper. People also recycle styrofoam from packing, too.

2) Best paint in general for foam is latex house paint as a base, because it adds an additional protection and toughness. Any weatherproof paint is fine over that. Krylon has recently come out with H20 paint that works well to cover with color, but has no additional protection. Unless you WANT a weathered, eaten away look, avoid regular spray paint. The acetone in it will eat your project.

Any other questions, just ask. If we know the answer we'll share, if not- we'll make one up! LOL :)

gosh yeah, I love that idea. Everything in life should be animated. Gingerbread men, dead bodies, candy canes, ghosts, toys, did i say dead bodies already? If I didn't have to find a place to plug it all in, I would animate everything in my yard. I already blow all my fuses as it is.

Prop building is what I get into ithurt. So a shift of seasonal change is nice for me. I still get to think out props, but a new direction is a nice shift. That way I don't get all burned out on one thang.

This a ginger bread house made out of foam board purchased at Lowe's. It was tall enough for kids to walk in and out of it. We added oil fragrance that smelled like ginger bread for the final touch. :) The fire place was made out of styrofoam covered in xeroxed hershey bar wrappers and aluminum foil. There was frosting on the side that was made out of "great stuff" spray.

I adore the m&ms at the entrance. Plastic candy containers? The great stuff icing on the edges is a great touch.

The lawn bulbs on top are a nice feature, and I NEVER would have thought about copying the candy bars. Would you like to write up a how-to for SantasProjects.com?

Benyuard,
Couple questions as I'm starting to get that certain itch in the creative part of my brain...

1 - What is used to keep the pieces together? i.e. Assembly and break-down.
2 - How many pieces it it when broken down?
3 - What material was used for the round roof tiles?

Great project! I may have to make a giant gingerbread entrance for my house this year...

I used gorilla glue and a hot glue gun , The gorilla glue foams up so you got to be careful, i built it so it came apart in 3 pieces, roof and two sides. those 3 parts were not glued together the roof held it together. the roof tiles were made from foam from lowes and panted with mostermud mixure.
