I was wondering if anyone makes and hands out gift jars at Christmas. I have a ton of recipes for gift jars ( cookies, muffins, stews, soups, chocolates, coffees etc..) I was thinking of making some this year. I have some ideas on decorating the jars..........you can paint on the jars (I was thinking snowmen) for the cookies I was thinking wrapping the lids in christmas fabric tying with raffia and attaching cookie cutters or little decorative rolling pins etc...(little toy ones you can buy in the dollar stores etc..) for decoration.
I also have a book that has a recipe to make your own nuts and bolts (the mixed nuts, oat cereal, pretzel etc...mix) its shows a good idea to put them in a jar on the lid of the jar you can hot glue different nuts and bolts (real nuts and bolts) and also with 26 gauge wire you can tie some around the neck of the bottle...then to top it off you can out them in a little toolbox! I thought that was a great idea!! :-)

I would love to start making these. Have collected quite a few recipes and such. Thought about incorporating them into my candy business along with a spice product line. They are good sellers & have a good shelf life.

Sickie these are easy to find anywhere online .....the thing is tho >>>>>Are they good?

I have not tried one of the ones I have...just no time to get into that stuff yet.

Lyssa....I think you have a very good idea there especially the way you want to put them together....I would love to get something like that for a xmas present!

I could list some of the recipes - just not sure if I should do it here or on the recipe page. I have never tried them to see how they actually turn off - maybe I should before I give them out! Thanks Mistress - I think I will make some for gifts.

opps - I meant to say - I have never tried them to see how they turn out -not turn off (geez don't really want to give a gift that turns people off..lol)
I will leave some recipes in the recipe page for anyone interested.
