Needed things

Cardboard. Any soft smooth cardboard will work. Cereal boxes and poster board are real easy to come by.

A pencil and compass for making a circle.

Ruler for making strait lines.

Wrapping paper, card, picture or cut out. Something to embellish the ornament with. ( pictured are both cut out of wraping paper.)

Bric-0-brac or trim to go along the top edge and cording to hang it with.

Paint or wraping paper. Enough to cover the cone. (pictured the gold is paint the green and red is wraping paper. )

Dimensional paint, glue you can squeeze out in a thin line with glitter or anything to embellish the picture you plan on using.

VERY important. use stick glue when applying paper to things. The kind that looks like an over sized lip balm. Liquid glues wrinkle paper.

White glue

a bit of tape.

To get started.

Mark a 'center' point on the cardboard. Measure out from that point a good 5 to 6 inches. This will be the height of your cone. With the compass mark an ark on the cardboard using your center point. With your ruler measure 6 to 7 inches across the ark. ( think of the widest part of a piece of pie ). Draw strait lines from these measurements to the center point. This pie shape will be the body of the cornucopia. Cut out. The curve has to be as smooth as possible. If you have trouble? Use wider trim. LOL

To bend. Dampen the unprinted or dull side of the cardboard and gently work it into a cone shape. Work it till one edge is overlapping the other. making sure at all times it retains an even point. Once bent draw a line of glue along the under side of the overlapping. Use a bit of tape to hold the cone's shape wile drying.

Let dry.

If your going to cover the cone with paper use the cone as a template before you bend it. Give yourself a little extra. You can always cut it away.

Paint or paper your cone. Inside and out if you want to.

Glue your picture to the cone and imbellish it. You can also put a smaller picture on the inside.

Measure out what you think you'll need of the cording to hang with. With some yarn, string or a thin long strip of paper figure out how long of a piece of bric-o-brac or trim you'll need for the top of the cone. Run a bead of glue along the top and glue the trim and cording in place.

If you intend on using the cornucopia as a real candy container ( specialty chocolates, small gifts ext... ) Cut holes in opposite sides of the cone about 1/4 down from the top. Run your cording threw and tie knots at both ends on the inside of the cone.

tip.... if you plan on making more than one always make a copy of your pie shaped cardboard before you bend it. if you like the way the cone looks you'll have a master template to work with.

If you plan on making a lot of cones fill a really smoth and even cardboard cone with plaster of paris. Use a glass to hold it upright. Once dry pull the cardboard off. Bending cones around one of these is a lot easier than doing it by hand.

Oh Putrid...Thank You so Much! Really appreciate it. I just love those & never thought about trying to make them! Your other pieces are beautiful too but look a bit advanced for my creative ability!

Thanks Mistress Muffy. Believe me, if I can do it, it can't be that hard. You should be able to swing right threw them.
