Hello Guys! Didn't think that I was going to sit this one out did you??? :D
Well, I am making a "Singing Snowman" for my snowman. I will start out with this photo of the "Reindeer Snowman" (no motor) that I purchased.
http://i443.photobucket.com/albums/qq158/theedwin/stuff/Picture370a.jpg
Next, I took off his head and cut out a place for the "singing" part.
http://i443.photobucket.com/albums/qq158/theedwin/stuff/Picture371.jpg I had to cut out more, but you will see that later.
Here is the body zip tied together for eternity!
http://i443.photobucket.com/albums/qq158/theedwin/stuff/Picture372a.jpg
Golly, look what fits in the snowman's head!!!
http://i443.photobucket.com/albums/qq158/theedwin/stuff/Picture373a.jpg (I broke his eye inserting him, nothing a little hot glue won't fix....
AAAACCKKK!!!
http://i443.photobucket.com/albums/qq158/theedwin/stuff/Picture374a.jpg
Painting....
http://i443.photobucket.com/albums/qq158/theedwin/stuff/Picture375.jpg
Now I am waiting for the paint to dry. It is pretty windy so that won't take long. I plan on putting a few layers of paint on him because white spraypaint is the worst spraypaint there is!
More to come!

Cool looking prop so far, Edwin! That's a very orginal idea!
Why don't you give him a mustache and he could be the Burl Ives snowman from Rudolph!
"Silver and Gold, silver and gold.............."
Can't wait to see it in action.

Thanks for the "one word" Dano! LOL
Well, if you haven't figured it out yet, I am using a Dougie for the mouth and eye movement on my snowman. (AAT!!!) The premanufactured snowman body was the most expensive part of my prop, the rest is paint, the Dougie, and getting it to LOOK like a snowman. So here is a video of the snowman with some Buffalo Snow on him, no scarfs, no buttons, no eyes made out of coal!
Not YET anyway! :D
YouTube- singing snowman
And as far as I have figured, I have a few bucks left to spend.
Oh, and the "Dougie" came with his own tape player, with tape! When this thing is done, it will talk and sing for hours! :D

Edwin, That turned out so great. I cannot believe how seamlessly that dougie blended in with the snowman when you were done. It looks terrific. I am really impressed. Of course I knew it would be nothing short of amazing.

Okay, that's it! If I can find similar materials- I am DEFINITELY stealing this!!!
What are the arms made from?

Simply beautiful! Are you planning to use him for your theatre?
How did you attach the nose?
Are the buttons pins painted black? Wait! Those were the eyes and 1 button that came with the original snowman, right? Great thinking!

Edwin, he came out just perfect. He is so adorable and fun. You really did a great job, and he is going to look great in any of your displays (home or at the theater). Is he weather proof?

Awesome snowman prop, Edwin!
That's really cool how his nose kind of twitches when he sings.
Excellent job!
Sickie Ickie
04-14-2010, 11:18 AM
Grinch, if I'm singing and I have to sneeze, my nose twitches too. I wonder how Samantha fro Bewitched looked singing?
theedwin
04-14-2010, 02:51 PM
Thanks guys! :D
For the nose I just carved out a section of the fake carrot and crammed the sensor in it. It stayed. And those are the buttons that came with the snowman, they were in the bottom of the box with the extra bulbs and such.
I plan on using him in the Theatre as he is not weather proof in the least.
