Was wondering if anyone would be interesting in getting into a Christmas Card exchange program? We post some address or such and then people can send that member or members a Christmas Card(s).

My suggestion would be for cards to be sent to a PO box.

My brother would hate this idea - he's a Postal Carrier!
What about making a list of troops overseas - sending them a card (image getting a hundred Christmas cards while you stuck in the war zone - should brighten their day).

I would love to send and receive a card from my fellow forum buddies. At work and the place I work out at we are sending Christmas cards to the soldiers.

How do you send the cards to the solders? Maybe we should do that instead or both?

At the place where I exercise, we adopted a soldier. For his birthday, we bought him a new digital camera because his was blown up where he was posted. He is OK. They were patrolling a bad area at the time. For work, we give our cards to the HR department and they are going to send them out.

Oh Fellow Elves....I like that idea! Those soldiers are so appreciative of things from home. Knowing you makes no difference, its the fact that you care....that is what they appreciate.
We had a soldier come home 2 1/2 weeks ago. His homecoming was televised locally here. When this kid was growing up, him & his brother had no Dad & so they became attached to my Father-in-law, who incidently is a WWII Vet. SO the older boy joined the Army & has spent the last 6 m. in Afganistan. He came home on leave for 18 days & yesterday called us to bid us farewell as he had to return to his unit.
While he was home my hubby(the Vietnam Vet) , my FIL, & this young soldier attended the free dinner at Golden Corral. YA see this kid still has no Dad, so he keeps in touch w/ my FIL. It was funny...the FIL called here one night to ask us if we thought Golden Corral would feed Mat free cause he thought that since he was still active duty that he was not considered a Veteran yet. We laughed & said no, he is a Vet!
Mat has changed a lot, he is skin & bones, says its from climbing those mts. out there. He was suppose to accompany some of his friends on a trip, but declined & told my FIL he just does not feel much like socializing. So he spent most of his leave w/ my FIL. He got a call from Afhganistan the day after Vets Day, his unit was out & on that watch they drove over a mine & his best friend was killed along w/a few others. Maybe it was a Godsend that night that he was here... home... safe in the arms of America.
It was hard to say good bye yesterday but we are going to be committed to sending him a monthly "Goodie Box"! He ate a huge box of my chocolates while he was here.
So...if ya ask me...sending them a card from home is ....as Martha would say....."A Good Thing!".

Muffy, what a blessing he was home. But all those poor other families, who lost theie loved ones. The other day a soldier from a few towns over was killed in Iraq. It would be great to send cards to soldiers, but I think time is of a factor. Where do we find out where to send the cards too? Does anyone know how to find that info out?

My Hubby will get on the computer when I'm done here & find out where we could mail the cards too....I'll post it this evening & maybe we can decide what we want to do!

There's a service called Operation Quiet Comfort that's operated by some awesome people in the crafting community. They deliver cards and care packages to over 40 combat hospitals - an awesome way to send some cheer to wounded soldiers.

I have personally sent care packages to a couple of units through http://anysoldier.com/. They're one of the better-known and reputable sources.
