Nice - about the only difference is, I don't use the water, just whole milk in a double boiler.
Otherwise, we make it the same way with the same ingredients.

I did a bit of research before finding a good hot chocolate. That you have arrived at essentially the same recipe rings as validation to me.

Funny how many people use whole cream or half-and-half for making the stuff. You get way too much pure fat floating on the top, almost a greasy hot chocolate. Milk is your friend.

Oh, and don't forget, you can add whipped cream afterwards if you want, a candy cane to stir, or you can flavor each mug with a teaspoon of - Baileys, Kahlua, Brandy, Grand Marnier (for a nice orange chocolate), Creme De Menthe or for a dark chocolate taste, whiskey.

I am feeling my eyes cross, and my cholesterol level skyrocketing (but MAN does it sound good!):)

ROFL! Ya'll think you got the Lock on dang good Hot Chocolate? Not so fast!
Mine Really takes it for Thick, Rich, Creamy, Delish!

Mine is:
4 C. Whole Milk
4 Tbsp. Quick Cocoa Powder

Stir until combined in a Med. Sauce Pan, with a Wooden Spoon and a thin, white foam comes up to top.
Turn heat up to high.
Test occassionally for doneness.
When mixture is Hot, serve immediately.
Large Hot Chocolate Mugs are ideal for this Recipe.
No need for Sugar or any kind of liquor.
This Hot Chocolate stands alone and is Santa's Favorite.
I should know. Several Christmases in a row met Santa's Favor on this Hot Chocolate.

Well, yeah, if you wanna use premade powders or syrups, that is fine. You can make a kickin' hot chocolate that way, and it's easier for serving lots of people.

Some of us just enjoy the taste control of homemade, as well as the act of melting real chocolate.

And there is never a need for liquor, it's just that after a half dozen mugs of classic chocolate, some people may want a little variety.

This seems amazing. I am satisfied with the powder hot chocolate for now. If I make this I don't think I would every be able to go back.
