This is the Christmas prop for this year. I don't really have much that I set outside besides a couple rope light trees that I got on clearance two years ago.
Started on the sleigh yesterday (got the plywood painted).
Here is today's progress when I had time to put a few hours into it. Trying to get the sleigh done first so I can judge how big to make the reindeer for it.

Looks good so far, will it come apart for storage?

The base doesn't come apart, I decided to keep it a strong one piece unit.
The sleigh part will be piece parts for storage. The sides, front/rear panels, and seat.

Nice. I was considering doing something just like that. Looks great, now I have an idea to start with.

Pretty big update on progress.

I got the front end made, the sides painted red, the left side painted with brass trim, seat painted, and family pic taken by cousin who does photography as a hobby.
Downside, forgot to take a pic of the sleigh myself when we had it set up outside. I got too busy getting it set up, then getting myself changed and after his pics, we took it down as he needed to get going and wanted the extra help of putting it into the shop to finish up more trim work.
Upside, it looked great. Though I wish now that I had splurged on better plywood for the side pieces, but I didn't want to stick too much money into it as it was my first wood project and if I made a mistake I wouldn't feel too sorry about it.
Also, with 2 extra people to hold pieces in place, it took about 5 minutes to piece together.
Unfortunately, I will be out on the road for a bit with work and won't get back to finishing up some trim painting and the back panel until then. But, I made some time to upload some newer pics and post where I am at currently. I will toss in the family portrait in it as soon as I get something from my cousin.
The only things left to do are: trim paint the right side, add and paint a rear panel, and add some curvy styling to the front runners.
Oh, and the reindeer are a most definite upgrade for NEXT year, lol.

Okay, back from being out on the road for the last two weeks.
Got the sleigh setup outside, still need to add some front runners and rear piece still. But, at least it is now outside :)

Thanks guys for the compliments.
I updated the pic above and exchanged out a couple on the web site too with the quickly added runners and wreath.
As for a How to... After I take it apart, I can take a couple better pics of the side pieces to show how they just set up on the sleigh base. Otherwise, not sure what other's really need for additional info or pics. Give me your specific questions and I will try to incorporate them into a how-to afterwards.

I am in the process on cleaning out the garage to store the sleigh. I don't need it in my work shop taking up space ;)
So, when I get ready to tear it down, I will attempt to get some good pics of that to show how easy it is to put together or take apart. The hardest piece is the curved front one if you are by yourself, with 3 people it is a snap.
I never did get around to adding a rear piece on the back, oh well. Otherwise, only 6 screws is holding it together very nicely.
I will inform you when the how-to is completely done. Not sure when, but a link will be added to the sleigh main page as it progresses.
Hope you all had a good holiday.
