Its that time of year again when we all have to think about throwing down big bucks on our significant other's for christmas presents.
what route are you taking this year?
practical?
romantic?
thoughtful?
i'll probably do what i do every year, buy him some shirts from the store i work at. there are tons of band shirts, and he's really into rock and roll so its usually pretty easy for me. heres the link if anyone else knows someone like that: ROCKWORLDEAST (http://www.rockworldeast.com)
i'll probably get him a few. maybe bake him some goodies or something. i've learned guys love baked stuff, so it's all good.
what about you guys?

My husband has always wanted a real NFL football so he's going to get that & a display case for it & maybe something with the Chicago Bears or Blackhawks on it. He let me pick my own so I got a purse & a new winter coat.

I would like to get my cat one of those. I got him a snugglesafe microwave heatpad but he has used it already.

Every year I went through this...what to get the hubs. Then I thought I had it. I get him a prepaid Visa or Mastercard. That way he spends the money on himself, doesn't put in the bank to use for bills and it seemed easy enough. Ha! I got him one for Father's Day and he loses the receipt with the activation code. We went through a week's worth of trying to get it (WalMart was able to pull up the receipt thank goodness). There was 0 customer service through the card. So he tells me at the end of all of this...please don't get me another one. ARRRGGGGG! I finally nailed something down that I thought we were both happy with and it's easy enough(for me at least and it would have been for him too had he not lost the stupid receipt). So I am back at square one. Though I probably will get him one but I will keep the receipt this time....lol

While I enjoy getting gift cards, I think I would feel a little let down if I got a gift card from my wife.

He has his things he likes that he buys when he wants them all year. Last year he wound up get professional t-shirts and sweatshirts and hats made for his plumbing, heating and cooling business with the prepaid card. He never would have bought this himself and it's a lot easier then trying to do returns the days after Christmas. I wouldn't mind it at all and in fact have asked for gift cards for my birthday and Mother's Day...I don't know maybe it's just how we do things in our house. He was aggravated with the lack of customer service as far as the card went, not with the actual gift.

We focus on the kids most. My joy is watching them open thier gifts. We do exchange a small gift though and I always get a gift for the family, something we all can enjoy.

pretty much the same here. before kids, we used to get each other tons of stuff, but now all our money goes to them! LOL
My boyfriend is so hard to buy for, so I ask him to tell me what he wants lol so this year he wants the new ipod nano as he enjoys his music. As for me, I don't mind as long as it comes from him but my special gift from him is knowing me loves me.

Hmmm....not sure. I separated from my husband this past February, and it will be the first physical Christmas I will be spending with my boyfriend (we met online over two years ago, and he's moved here to live with me since then). So I am REALLY looking forward to this Christmas! He said he would provide me with a list of wants, so I suppose that will have to do. LOL :)

Hubby and I have been married a long time now and we put our efforts towards our daughter. Usually we purchase a bigger ticket item after the holidays that we both can enjoy. This year we want wireless surround sound system for our tele.

Many of you already know that Mark is one HECK of a cook (Like I have said before, it is a wonder I don't weigh 500 pounds at this point!)
I will be getting him some of the things he wants for his kitchen (one of the rooms in hell for me would include a kitchen) He has more "kitchen gagets" than most people have hair on their head!:)
HOWEVER, I just happen to be a VERY good listener (he never remembers this when he is griping about something he wishes he had for his favorite hobby..... or maybe he DOES!):)
ANYHOW, he will be getting a few things from his favorite cutlery manufacturer, and possibly a few other things that will help him with what he loves to do. I only hope he likes it.:):):)

Hi again Craig I am a "Kitchen" type also and I know one of the things that drives me up the wall is putting my good knives in the drawer and they clang against the other knives and ruin their edge. Hubby fixed it for me by putting strips of magnets in the drawers. He knew I didnt like the wooden knife holders as they are a breeding ground for bacteria, so this simple little rack of a magnetic strip was perfect! Oh, and just FYI, ceramic knives are more of a hassle than they are worth... you drop em once in the sink, and well its not pretty. (tear) Just in case that is something you are thinking of...
As for the OP, we dont normally purchase anything for each other unless something practical and usually concentrate on the kids. We will make something for each other tho. He has made me shelves for my books and another year a beautiful walking staff with some of my "finds", horn, bones, crystals and such and in the center of the staff the pendant he had bought me when we were dating oh so many years ago and the chain had broken.
I have made him a "scarf" that was more of a tube that could also cover his face as he was a construction worker and I have one of those imaginations of if it were a scarf I would get a call of him somehow strangling himself by getting it caught in machinery. Have also made him doo-rags for under his helmet. Purchases have been Harley Davidson steel toe boots :)
This year - havent a clue!!!!!!

I always have the hardest time getting my boyfriend a gift. I just try to pay attention and get him something useful. This year though I think that I will get him a stereo for his car. His current stereo is crap and turns itself off.
