This year I want to host a first annual tree trimming party for my family and/or my friends
But I need ideas...
And I need help with logistics....
So far I think we will make decorations ... ex. popcorn and cranberry garlands, snowflakes, dough ornaments (including one people could take home as a party favor and use to decorate their own tree)
Then we will use the new and the existing decorations to decorate the tree and the house.
We will also serve food and drinks.
Possibly do a gift or cookie exchange....

That's sounds like a great idea. I've always thought about doing that, but usually just have a cookie exchange instead. We always have games to play and small prizes to give away. Everyone loves the games.

Sounds great, but leave your sentimental ornaments out!

What type of games do digsbugsgirl?
And you are right about the sentimental Ornaments Sickie Ickie.
I break enough of those on my own... I don't need any help.

Sounds great!! If you are having young kids attending you might want to partially make some of the ornaments or get some of those foam craft kits from the craft store. They are great, simple to make and non-breakable!!
You could do a Christmas trivia game.

I still have the popsicle-stick reindeer ornament I made in the third grade... those handmade decorations are so great, they leave such a happy mark on a kid's memory!
Have you ever seen some of those wreaths you can make using a coat hanger and either sandwich bags or tissue paper? Might not be the best for small kids, but I think it's a nice project for ages 7+

or making the "bells"
clear hard plastic cup
tissue paper of different colors
white glue
jingle bell
2 beads
fishing line.
drill a hole through the base of the cup.
paint white glue around inside and add scraps of tissue paper to the inside.
when dry, paint white glue over paper stuck to inside.
tie jingle bell to fishing line, tie bead on about 1" down from jingle bell, stick other end of fishing line through hole in cup, tie another bead and make a loop at the top to hang on the tree.
I made this in elementary school and still is oneof my favorite ornaments.

This sounds like so much fun! but I we take such care in putting up a 'pretty' tree, that we might have to use a different one of this type of thing.
