This year for our Christmas Party I was thinking of a Costume Theme. I was thinking all guests can dress up as their favorite Christmas movie characters for the party. We can award prizes etc. and I think that might make for a unique scene. What do you think? Has anyone done this before?

I would go to that party for sure. Am I invited? If I start now I may get to WA by Dec. LOL If you do it take lots of pics. It sounds like a blast. I bet LOTS of people will dress like either The Christmas Story or A Christmas Carol. i would be Max, the Grinch's dog. I LOVE him.

I would love to make a walking christmas tree costume ! But she is a girly girl and insists on something feminine. Just for future reference how would you make a tree costume with lights:)

Mr. Griswold: great idea! I have a couple friends who went to a Christmas costume party a couple years ago (I think) and they loved it; a number of attendees stayed in character (I especially recall how impressed they were with a Grinch) and apparently that in itself was a hit. I'm afraid you have folks like me all too well figured out; I immediately though of using my upcoming reaper costume as the Ghost of Christmas Future:). Though now I think I'd try a monstrous version of the grinch based on a performer who used to recite the whole thing and pantomime it out at our local Christmas Stroll; I'd just take her mask-free, unique design and "creep it out" a little. If I was a guy I would probably consider the "scary Grinch" mask, though the price is a little scary in itself: http://www.brandsonsale.com/scary-grinch-costume-mask-014987.html.
Annea: Actually, I think a Christmas tree could work very well in a girly style. After all, trees are often glitzy and glamorous images of the holiday. I personally think EnlightenedGrinch's suggestion is adorable, but I'll offer another idea just for the heck of it. Maybe a cute pine-green dress, brown stockings, and a tiara/headband featuring a big, beautiful star that looks like a tree topper. The dress could be accented with all sorts of bobbles and really pretty ribbon, and maybe a tinsel-garland boa if she really likes to glam it up.

I'd come if I could, but I would come as my own Senora C.
However due to distance, time and finances, I would not be able to attend.

Oooooooooh I like that. :) A nice light up star on top, ornaments are also now made of metallic plastic so no fears about anything breaking, light up lights, TERRIFIC idea!

blush:Thanks, Sickie! With battery-powered mini-light sets for wreaths and similarly-powered light-up ornaments in star shapes, the whole thing would be self contained. And those plastic ornaments have become spot-on imitators of their glass counterparts.

Smilodonna its a lovely idea, might use it myself sometime! She watched "the snow queen" and wants to follow that idea; white dress with snowflakes and icicles, i'll make a tinsel crown and use irridescent white and blue make-up
