Well, a project that started in March is finally finished. It's not as fancy as my gazebo, or as visual as my "wall o' lights" that covers the house, or even as eye-catching as my North Poles, but it should make for a very interesting 2009.

I decided last year to do "theme nights" for our Christmas display. A different style of music for each day. The problem is that most people sequence some songs and run the same show each day. Theme nights don't allow for that.

So I give you, without further delay, the song list for The Johnson's Christmas Corner for 2009 (fifty two songs in all):

Monday: Classic Christmas Songs
Silent Night by Jim Reeves
A Christmas Festival by Arthur Fiedler & the Boston Pops
Keep Christmas with You by Bob McGrath

A Holly Jolly Christmas by Burl Ives
We Wish You A Merry Christmas by The Philadephia Orchestra & Chorus
Jolly Old St Nicholas by Chet Atkins
O Holy Night by Josh Groban
Joy To The World by Julie Andrews

Tuesday: Trans Siberian Orchestra and Mannheim Steamroller
O Come All Ye Faithful/O Holy Night by Trans-Siberian Orchestra
Good King Joy by Trans-Siberian Orchestra
Christmas Eve/Sarjevo 12/24 by Trans-Siberian Orchestra

Hallelujah by Mannheim Steamroller
Traditions of Christmas by Mannheim Steamroller
Hark the Herald Trumpets Sing by Mannheim Steamroller
Fairies by Mannheim Steamroller

Wednesday: Rock N Roll Christmas

Merry Christmas (I Don't Want to Fight) by The Ramones
Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) by Smash Mouth

DUDE That is so cool! And you DIDN'T use 'Wizards in Winter'!!!! Totally cool!!!! 99% of every lights video I've see was that song. Like listening to 80 different garage bands try to play the same song. Over and over and over and....LOL The Ramones, Twisted Sister and Bruce Springsteen! Ryan_Johnson you ROCK!

That has got be a lot of work for a few weeks of show. Looking forward to seeing some vids of this years display.

Funny story about all that bubble juice (and the pics on my website don't show it all!)... just tonight I was in the garage working on something and I noticed that the shelf above my workbench (where the bubble juice is stored) was sagging forward a bit. So I tried to brace it up because I didn't want to take it all down- I can do that after Christmas right? Anyway, I got one brace in no problem, then started the second. And suddenly a crapload of bubble juice started crashing into my head and shoulders. Luckily I didn't get hurt and even more importantly I only lost 1 bottle of Peppermint juice!

Ryan,

This is my first year sequencing lights so I am amazed that someone can sequence that many songs in that period of time. Holy crap, woops, Holy cow!!

What's your secret? Spinach like Popeye. Do you wear a red cape and have a big S on your shirt? Red Bull spiked your favorite beverage. Have you been tested for steriods?

And the song list is cool!!

A lot of people have that same "Oh my God!" response. But I made a plan and stuck to it:

Monday's songs were finished in March
Tuesday's songs were finished in April
Wednesday's songs were finished in May
Thursday's songs were finished in June
Friday's songs were finished in August
Saturday/Sunday's songs were finished by September 15th (in time for the Lone Star Holidays Academy)

By making that plan, and sharing it with people who I knew would hold me accountable if I tried to quit, I was able to take a HUGE task and break it into manageable chunks.
