Lone Star Holidays is a non-profit organization that was formed in 2008 for one simple purpose: to help create relationships among people who celebrate the holidays - ANY holidays - 365 days a year!

It's been a great first year, with workgroups on various topics being held all over Texas. But over the past few months, we've been working on planning for the next big thing for us... and so today we want to officially announce the biggest news of 2009 the members of Christmas Fan Club:

The 2009 Lone Star Holidays Academy is coming September 19th & 20th to Houston, Texas.

If you’re a member of Lone Star Holidays then you know how hard the members have worked to establish real relationships with other Texans that share their love of the holidays. And if you have been to one of the Texas events in the past, you know that we always strive to put on the best show for our attendees. Whether it is in hotel, museum, or a large convention center, the people who put these events together always try to think outside of the box and come up with new ways for people to socialize and share this hobby.

We’ll keep things simple and you can decide for yourself if the Academy is for you:

The Academy is being held on September 19th and 20th, which is a Saturday and Sunday (no taking off of work if you don’t want to!) That puts the Academy only 41 days before Halloween, 67 days until Thanksgiving, and only 96 days until Christmas!

The location is the National Museum of Funeral History. It may sound morbid, but it’s far from it. With over 10,000 square feet of meeting and classroom space, the NMFH is a fantastic place and we are proud to host the Academy there.

This event is all about the educational offerings. So far, over 20 classes are set up:

We will have the traditional classes about sequencing, web design, and many of the standards for decorating.
The Academy will also have some new topics like “How to be a good Santa (taught by a professional Santa Claus)”, “Building YOUR Perfect Display”, and “Decorating in an Economic Downturn”.
Some of the newest technologies will also be demonstrated at the Academy like “Cutting Edge with Dlight” and “Light Show Pro”. These are not being taught simply by members, but by developers and designers of the products!
And we made some room for some of our vendor partners as well. Dlight Designs, Suprtech Novelties, Illumimax, and Gardner’s Wireframe Creations will all be at the Academy to show off their latest products and meet with you!
What does this all cost? That’s the great thing! The registration cost per attendee is only $30. That’s for admission, all of the classes, access to the vendors, and lunch on both Saturday and Sunday.

The Academy is less than 60 days from now, and we are limited on the number of people that we can fit into the museum, so register today by going to the Registration Page (http://www.lone-star-holidays.com/AcademyRegistration.htm). And, if you are not already a member, certainly consider joining Lone Star Holidays (www.lonestarholidays.com). We’d love to have you!

We hope to see you at the Academy. Happy EVERYTHING from Lone Star Holidays!

Please note: this posting was pre-approved by Larry at Christmas Fan Club.

Thanks Sickie. A lot of work for the weekend (and seven months of planning) but a lot of fun and totally worth it.
