Who gives the bigger gifts Santa or mom and dad?

Does Santa give out the big gifts or the little gifts? When I was growing up our parents always got us the bigger gifts while Santa left us smaller gifts in our stockings. Since I've been married and have kids now, I've inherited my husbands traditions also, and he says it should be the other way around. But I feel that some times the kids will ask for some outrages gifts(too expensive)and I wouldn't want them to think Santa let them down. What traditions do you guys share with your children and who does the gift giving?

mom and dad normally give a bunch of medium priced gifts, then santa gives a couple cheaper ones, and the big daddy one. It's just so fun to see their eyes light up w/ the big one that santa slipped in!

The grandparents seem to do an amazing job at spoiling the kids every Christmas. But we come in equal to santa I would say.

Santa brings the big gifts. But my kids are all old enough now to know who they are really from. Although I tell them that once they don't believe in Santa he doesn't come anymore. So of course they claim to believe in Santa.

when my kids were little, it was pretty evenly didtributed, except for things that were specifically asked for from Santa, of course that had to come from him, whether big or small, but while I wanted it to be fun from Santa, didn't want him to get all the credit.LOL!

I got both ways when I was a kid. Of course if Santa brings them, the parents can always say it was too expensive, thus curatailing ,more requests for more expensive gifts.
