Part 1
This method can be applied to any character. Basically, it's a form of doll making. A list of suppliers will be noted at the end of this tutorial.

I first carved the features off a styrofoam wighead. Then I applied a coat of Celluclay which is a mache based product that dries very hard. This forms the sturdy base for the application of another mache based product called Paperclay.

Here you can see the Paperclay skin and features being formed.

The following pics cracked me up....still lots of work to do.

To make the shoulder and upper chest area, I covered a previous sculpt with plastic under aluminum rain gutter mesh. That was then covered with three 1/4" coats of Celluclay both inside and out. I sealed after each coat was dry with another product called Sculpt-or-Coat. This becomes a very sturdy form.

I trimmed the excess mesh and cut the upper shoulder area to remove it from the previous sculpt.

I then taped and applied more Celluclay to the seams.

And here's what I ended up with.

I used some cuts of foam pool noodles to form the neck, then masking tape after the head was placed on the pvc pipe armature. Then additional Celluclay was applied on top of that.

I made the ears seperately from the head. These pics show how I just copied the ears from pics and tweaked them a bit. They were then placed on the head using more Paperclay.

The eyes were made using 1" wooden balls painted white. Then I used a printed iris downloaded from http://www.hauntershangout.com/home/easyeyes.asp I painted over the print using craft paints and a coat of clear nail polish between each color change.
