cinnamon baked apples

makes 4 prep 10 min total time 45 min.


4 apples - i used red and green ( i made for then 4 apples)
1/4 C chopped walnuts
1 tbsp. melted butter
cinnamon sticks
1 tbsp vanilla
1/2 tbsp cinnamon

Heat oven to 350 F. Core apples leaving whole . Slice apples 1/4" horizontal rounds keeping shape intact. assemble whole apples and place in shallow dish 8 or 9 " . Stir walnuts, butter, cinnamon and vanilla and pour mixture into cored apples . insert cinnamon sticks into stuffing ( i sprinkled a little bit of sugar over apples ) if you want the apples to be really full make more of the stuffing and add to apples. . Bake for 35- 40 mins. basting occasionally with accumulated juices or until tender. . Serve with whip cream or ice cream.

Yummy- could this one pass for healthy? Let's see you have fruit, protien from the nuts, cinnamon is supposed to be a appetite suppresant, hmmmm. I think that I will make some this afternoon! Thanks

yum, my mom used to make something similar, no cinnamon stick , so it brings back many memories, thank you!!
